1960 Jul.
 

Oriental Land Co., Ltd., founded on July 11 with the aim of reclaiming land off the coast of Urayasu, developing commercial and residential land and constructing a major leisure facility, thereby contributing to the cultural life of the nation and the welfare of its citizens. (Capital: 250 million yen)

1962 Jul.

Oriental Land and Chiba Prefecture complete the Urayasu District Land Reclamation Agreement, permitting Oriental Land to reclaim land off the coast of Urayasu and to purchase the land for development.

1964 Sep.

Reclamation work begins off the coast of Urayasu.

1970 Mar.

Chiba Prefecture begins dividing reclaimed land into lots to sell to Oriental Land for construction of leisure facilities and houses.

1974 Dec.

The Walt Disney Productions (currently The Walt Disney Company) and Oriental Land reached a basic agreement for a business alliance.

1975 Nov.

Reclamation work completed.

1979 Apr.

Oriental Land and Walt Disney Productions (currently Disney Enterprises, Inc.) conclude an agreement concerning the licensing, design, construction, and operation of Tokyo Disneyland Park

Nov.

A shopping center, Park Square, opens in the Tomioka district of the town of Urayasu (now Tomioka, Urayasu City) as part of the expansion strategy in leasing of merchandise facilities.

1980 Dec.

Construction work for Tokyo Disneyland starts in the Maihama district of the town of Urayasu (now Urayasu City).

1983 Apr.

Tokyo Disneyland opens.

1994 Feb.

Consolidated subsidiary Maihama Corporation Co., Ltd. is established.

1996 Apr.

Oriental Land and Disney Enterprises conclude an agreement concerning the licensing, design, construction, and operation of a new Disney theme park, Tokyo DisneySea, and the Tokyo DisneySea Hotel (now Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta).

Jun.

Consolidated subsidiary, Maihama Resort Hotels Co., Ltd. (currently Milial Resort Hotels Co., Ltd.) , established for management and operation of hotels.

Dec.

Oriental Land lists its shares in the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

1997 Apr.

Consolidated subsidiary, Maihama Resort Line Co., Ltd. established.

Dec.

Consolidated subsidiary, Green and Arts Co., Ltd. established.

1998 Jun.

Consolidated subsidiaries, Photo Works Co., Ltd. and Design Factory Co., Ltd. Bay Food Service Co., Ltd. established.

Aug.

Construction of Maihama Station Area Development Project (Ikspiari and Disney Ambassador Hotel) begin in Maihama.

Sep.

Oriental Land and Disney Enterprises, Inc. conclude an agreement concerning the licensing, construction and operation of Disney Ambassador Hotel.

Oct.

Oriental Land and Disney Enterprises, Inc. conclude an agreement concerning the licensing, design, construction and operation of Disney Resort Line. Maihama Resort Line Co., Ltd. start construction of the Disney Resort Line monorail system in the Maihama area.

Oct.

Construction of Tokyo DisneySea and Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta begins in Maihama.

1999 Mar.

Consolidated subsidiary, IKSPIARI Co., Ltd. established.

Oct.

Consolidated subsidiary, RC Japan Co., Ltd. established.

2000 Jul.

Ikspiari and Disney Ambassador Hotel open.

Oct.

Wholly owned subsidiary Resort Cleaning Services Co., Ltd. (currently part of Maihama Building Maintenance Co., Ltd.) established for costume cleaning services.

2001 Mar.

Bon Voyage opens.

Jun.

Consolidated subsidiary Maihama Building Maintenance Co., Ltd. established for building maintenance services, and OLC Kitchen Techno Co., Ltd. established for sales and maintenance of kitchen units.

Jul.

Disney Resort Line opens.

Sept.

Tokyo DisneySea opens.
Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta opens.

2002 Apr.

Oriental Land acquires all issued shares of Retail Networks Co., Ltd. -- a consolidated subsidiary of Walt Disney International Japan -- and adds it to Oriental Land Group. (Retail Networks Co., Ltd. was transferred to Walt Disney Japan, Co., Ltd. on March 31, 2010.)

2005 Jan.

Oriental Land and Disney Enterprises, Inc. conclude an agreement concerning the licensing, design, construction, and operation of Tokyo Disneyland Hotel.

Feb.

 

Palm and Fountain Terrace Hotel opens.

Jul.

Consolidated subsidiary M TECH Co., Ltd. established for maintenance of theme park attractions, including ride vehicles and other attraction components.

2008 Jul.

Tokyo Disneyland Hotel opens.

Cirque du Soleil Theatre Tokyo opens.

2010 Jul.

Oriental Land Co., Ltd. celebrates its 50th anniversary.

2012 Sep.

Oriental Land Co., Ltd. started to operate the “MAIHAMA Amphitheatre” as a multipurpose hall.

Oriental Land’s 100% subsidiary Milial Resort Hotels Co., Ltd. acquired all shares in Brighton Corporation from Haseko Corporation, making Brighton Corporation Milial Resort Hotels Co., Ltd.’s subsidiary.
